Learn more about Holy Cross
-
Why Holy Cross?
We welcome all seeking to become part of a community that loves God and loves others.
-
What does Holy Cross believe?
We believe that you matter to God. And because you matter to God, you matter to us. None of us is perfect, but we are forgiven. We gather around one God’s gifts of word and sacrament, to be reminded of God’s love, to be assured of God’s grace and to sing God’s praise.

What are the differences between the two worship services?
Most of the year, we offer two services – one at 8:30 a.m. and one at 11:00 a.m. – each lasting about one hour.
The 8:30 service is a traditional Lutheran service, utilizing a variety of liturgical resources to help draw us closer to God. Choirs, soloists and other special music enhance worship. The 11:00 service is a contemporary Christian service with a unique Lutheran approach. A contemporary praise ensemble leads the music. Communion is offered each week at both services. Try both and see which is the better fit for your personal preferences! -
What is the style of dress?
Dress to participate comfortably. We’ve seen suits, we’ve seen business casual, we’ve seen jeans and, yes, we’ve seen shorts in the summer. It matters not so much what you wear, but that you are here. The style of dress might be slightly more dressy at the traditional worship service than at the contemporary service, but you will still see a broad range of styles at both.
-
Is there a place for my children?
Yes! Children are always welcome in worship, but we know that it is sometimes more conducive to a parent’s ability to worship if a child does not have to be still and quiet for 60 minutes. There are options! These include a caring and safe nursery environment just a short distance from the sanctuary and the What’s Up? program, when children three through third grade are welcomed to their own special lesson time for part of the worship service.
And, as you scan the rest of this website, you will see that there are programs for children of all ages. It is most definitely our goal to help you teach your children about the wonderful love of God for every person. -
How can I participate in the life of the church?
Holy Cross is blessed with two strong leaders in our pastors, and they are committed to helping each person find his or her place at Holy Cross. Their regular rallying cry of “if you are in town, you are at worship” reminds us that in community we can feel even closer to God and together be His hands and feet to show others that great love.
You may decide to join a choir, or help with Vacation Bible School, or read or usher at a service. The church is comprised of people with many gifts, and you just might bring us one we haven’t had before! -
How can I learn more?
It might be best to experience worship with us – why not come this Sunday? And whether before or after worship, plan to join us for coffee and education hour where you will find many who will be happy to tell you about why they come to Holy Cross.

What if I want to speak with a pastor?
