Serve Others
Jesus said: “Just as you did it [that is, fed the hungry, gave drink to the thirsty,
welcomed the stranger, clothed the naked, cared for the sick and visited the
imprisoned] to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did
it to me” (Matthew 25:40).
At Holy Cross, we seek to take Jesus’ call to service seriously with ministry
beyond our walls. These ministries include:
-
Monthly participation in Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS)
-
Filling the Caring Cube to support the Interfaith Food Pantry
-
Involvement with the annual Crop Walk, which raises funds for local and
international hunger-fighting agencies
-
Supporting Habitat for Humanity projects, both locally and through work trips
abroad (Guatemala in summers of 2006 and 2007)
-
Working with the local school district and other churches in the Christmas
Sharing program
-
Partnering with other churches to hold blood drives
In addition, Holy Cross is committed to sharing financial resources, both through
the work of the wider expressions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
and through selected local ministries
